Everywhere you go, in one venue or another, the term cuts through the conversation like a dull knife. Instead of cutting cleanly and with an ability to cleave the matter properly, the Nanny State issue is a club being used to spread butter; and the butter’s sour.
A Nanny is a surrogate, a person chosen to care for, but is NOT responsible for the moral growth of the child. The parent is responsible. Too many people are entirely too ready to displace this accountability.
It’s easy to make a kid. We all know the procreative procedures. But, the aftermath (not the afterglow); the point where the enormity of the act sinks in and the responsibilities come to light, is where too many active participants in the “fun stuff” throw up their hands and run from their duty to guide and nurture the child soon delivered .
How can anybody, after that ovum is fertilized and taken root in the uterine wall; after creation’s spark arced and set aflame the reality of life, step aside and allow others to nurture and direct the growth of and send that resultant child down lie’s path without PARENTAL control?
A Nanny takes over what the parent improperly feels is too overwhelming a task: the care, growth, education and progress of a child’s growing world.

The States Must Rise Again: The Only Way to Combat Obama’s Socialist Agenda
By Selwyn Duke
With the passage of ObamaCare coming on the heels of government takeover of industries and taxpayer-funded bailouts of the irresponsible, many are wondering how we can turn the socialist tide. They see Uncle Sam expanding, their rights and economic prospects shrinking and their voices ignored. For these people, November cannot come soon enough.
But November is not the ultimate solution. In the political universe, seven months is an eternity, and we cannot know precisely how public sentiment will evolve. Besides, the chances of Republicans retaking both Houses are slim and, even if they do, there’s no guarantee they’ll rise to the occasion. Some will be Scott Brown types — not the sort to give us tradition we can believe in.
A better solution lies on the local and state levels. Fifteen states are currently suing the federal government over ObamaCare, and then there is the Tenth Amendment Movement, involving at least 35 states that are asserting their sovereignty over powers granted them by that amendment. These are good starts, but . . . .
Question: What if the Supreme Court, in obvious violation of the Constitution, upholds ObamaCare? Do we simply obey unflinchingly and wait for the next federal usurpation?

It is disgusting to witness all the dishonesty surrounding the current administration's public policy efforts. Even the new language columnist of The New York Times Magazine is in denial and pretends to consider it some kind of smear – even conspiracy – for those not among Mr. Obama's fan base to refer Obama & Co. as socialists. Why?
Socialism is a well respected political economic alternative for which some of the best minds and hearts of human history have done fierce battle. No, it is not a good political economic system but those who are socialists believe it is. So why don't they and their cheerleaders in the media admit it, even proudly announce it at every turn, that they support socialism? I am not ashamed of being a champion of laissez-faire capitalism, so why do they pretend to be less than enthusiastic about their democratic socialism?
In American history there have been proud socialists aplenty – Normal Thomas being perhaps the most public of them. But there was, also, Michael Harrington who, historians claim, was personally responsible for Lyndon Baines Johnson's "war on poverty" and some other, for my money futile and even hazardous, efforts to drive America more and more toward socialism. Why dishonor these folks with, for example, a bunch of phony denials about what the recently passed Obamacare legislation was about. Of course it was a step toward socialism and Mr. Obama, if he had an ounce of genuine candor and courage, would not keep dodging the issue. (Maybe he wants some kind of goulash socialism, like Janos Kadar of Hungary wanted to goulash communism. But Kadar never denied that what he was aiming for had in it a large dose of communism – actually, socialism, for communism for communists is but a far off goal [dream?].)

For the last thirty years I’ve been an active bird watcher. When I got started I was a little put-off by the variety of birds and the similarity of some specific species available to watch. There are a lot of different variants: colors, sizes, social actions, different calls and the displays of true diversity of mating rituals. They hope to accomplish what they want most: their personal satisfaction so they can produce progeny and continue the bloodline.
My favorite areas of observation are right here: West Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee and Iberville as well as Baton Rouge. I was in Baton Rouge on Monday the March 29, 2010 when I witnessed an annual migration. It was the nesting of the Loons. They do this at the State Capitol.
While citizens of this state were on the steps trying to advise the legislators of their dissatisfaction concerning business as usual, the Puff-Breasted Posturing Politicos preened, waltzed and strutted past the people as though oblivious to the citizenry. The Puff-Breasted Posturing Politico expects automatic recognition of its position in its hierarchy and seeks to share this with the rest of the community.
These birds expect admiration. They believe they’re due this respect because they are who and what they are. This is witnessed by the shallow disdain and ignorance of the people they strut past without so much as a glance while moving toward their watering holes and suet beds to feed on the gains received from those people they ignored moments before. They thrive on the civility and deference displayed by the docile watchers.
